The plot

At the beginning of the Festa teatrale, the audience looks out on a peaceful scene in an oak forest. Asleep on the lawn, the soul and love couple, Anemone and Animia, are seen lingering. Buon Genio, the good spirit, his daughter Negiorea, the reason, virtues and pleasures have just endowed the two with the mottos of probity. But the peace is immediately disturbed. The turnaround comes with Cattivo Genio, the evil spirit, who appears with his entourage. The mottos, which one must imagine as shields against evil, are stolen from Anemone. Regarding Animia the evil forces only succeed in snatching the sign of innocence. This plants the seed in her from which self-love, pride and jealousy grow, which has a dramatic effect on what happens next. Anemone is then struck by the arrow of Amor incostante, the fleeting love, and bewitched by Volusia (lust). Animia's jealousy and Anemone's fleeting love now put a strain on the previously peaceful relationship between the two. It is foreseeable that this cannot have a good end. But far from Animia and Anemone, Negiorea takes up the fight with the evil forces, is able to push them back and finally defeat them. With the help of reason (Negiorea), Anemone realises his mistakes and deeply regrets his fickleness. Finally Animia forgives him, so that nothing stands in the way of the happy outcome of the Festa teatrale.

Animia:
Io ti compiango.
Non ti biasimo già. So che sedotto
Fosti dalle Passioni,
Che dipingendo a te per bello il vizio,
Ti spinsero per forza al prezipizio.
So che l’Inferno tutto
Congiurò a danni tuoi. Ah se mon era
Negiorea in mio soccorso,
Imitando il tuo esempio,
Ora anch’io soffrirei lo stesso scempio.
Non v’è, che Negiorea,
Che bastante a fugar sia dal tuo core
Quel che lo strazia ancor cieco furore.

Anemone:
M’è noto il suo poter: Ma sei tu sola
E non altri capace
A questo cor, ch’è tuo, render la pace.
Che dissi? … Ah! Che più degno
Non è, desserti offerto.

Amor ragionevole (ad Animia)
Un tal rimorso
Cancella il suo delitto.

Animia (ad Amore)
È vero.
(ad Anemone)
